Getting Back Into the Grove!

Can you believe Roberto already loves loud music and driving fast and he’s only 2 months old?!

haha!

We went to a wedding and a baptism over the weekend and both had load music playing which didn’t bother him at all. He actually fell asleep!

He also loves riding the car, that is if we don’t catch any red lights… Whenever the car comes to a complete stop he starts to fuss until we start moving again!

Anyway, since Roberto will be 2 months on Thursday, I figured I should get back into some kind of workout routine. I’ve gone 8 weeks without working out and that is the longest I’ve gone in a couple years. I definitely have no regrets with taking some time off because not only did my body need to heal properly, but I just didn’t have the energy to do anything more than going for a 20-30 minute walk outside.

Now that Roberto is sleeping a tiny bit better (he slept for a 4 hour stretch last night!) I’m feeling better and I want to feel my muscles burn again and today is the day! I plan to start slow and easy and work at a moderate intensity. I plan to include lots of planks, squats and lunges and do lots of interval walking. Here is a schedule I want to follow for this week and hopefully will do the best to continue with it while I’m vacationing in Italy. Once I get back from vacation I definitely will take things up a notch and really work up some good sweats!

I feel like this is the perfect plan for me because it is exactly what I can handle right now. Once Roberto is sleeping through the night (hopefully that will be sooner than later!) I will be able to workout for longer periods of time and at higher intensities.

Along with this workout plan I will get back to eating clean 90-95% of the time. During these past 8 weeks I definitely indulged in a lot of sugar. My sugar cravings are pretty strong right now, which stinks because I worked so hard to lower my sugar intake over the past year, but I know I can get back at it and avoid as much sugar as I can.

I already showed you some of the clean eats I enjoyed earlier last week.

Cauliflower Rice & Lisa B’s Peanut Butter Cups!

The other night I made some Seed & Coconut granola that was grain free, low in sugar, and SO good!

I’m not going to lie, I will have my fair share of gelato and pastries while in Italy, but I will definitely focus on the many wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables I’ll have available to me out there.

I’m not sure if I will post while in Italy. I definitely will try too, but I’m not going to make any promises. All I know is that I plan on taking many needed naps though! It will be so nice to have an extra 4 pairs of hands around. Rinaldo parents and sisters are SUPER excited to finally meet Roberto! It will definitely be emotional but oh so nice!

Now I’m off to the grocery store to stock our fridge with healthy items that I can cook this week before we leave on Saturday!

Any healthy and tasty recipes that you have been loving on recently? I’d love for you guys to share some with me!

Haha, my little nephew is the same way–he is fine if the car is moving, but instantly cries when it stops! It’s funny how little babies can pick up on that sort of thing.

Have a great trip, Lisa!!! It’s not low in sugar, but the best recipe I’ve tried recently is this Pumpkin Chia Gingersnap Parfait. I’m totally going to have to blog about this one – it’s a healthy breakfast that tastes like dessert! http://www.healthfulpursuit.com/2011/11/pumpkin-gingersnap-chia-breakfast-parfaits/

Your workout plan sounds really good and reasonable—no need to jump in and be intense! Honoring your body and being moderate sounds best…and it will probably feel way better too :-)
I don’t have too many new ideas for healthy recipes, but I made some cookies with coconut flour yesterday that were darn good! I posted the recipe last night–the best part is that they take like 5 minutes, which really feeds my desire for instant gratification :-)
    Great update!

Good luck getting back into an exercise routine. I found getting started was the hardest part, but once I was back into the groove it got easier and easier. I hope you are enjoying your time in Italy! :)
