It’s been just over a year since Lisa and I began reading health & fitness blogs. Basically, a year since our lives changed for the better
If it wasn’t for you guys, we would be missing out on some great recipes, tips, motivation, workout ideas, advice and of course some new friendships. Sorry, I didn’t meant to get all emotional. It happens.
In the past 6 month’s, Lisa and I have been eating things we would’ve never thought of, or came across on our own.
The list is long, but this time, it’s a good thing!
The first thing I was introduced to was green smoothies. I can’t say where I saw it first, since it’s all over the blog world. But, I’m glad I discovered them.
Green Smoothies
I have to admit, when I first saw people putting spinach in their smoothies, I thought they were craahhzayyy! Since I live by the motto, “Try Everything Once” I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised that you couldn’t taste the spinach at all. Yay, veggies for breakfast!
Vegan Overnight Oats (Oh She Glows)
Being a huge texture person, I wasn’t too sure about VOO the first couple times I tried them. Third time’s a charm, and now I love eating my oats cold in the summer.
Breakfast Cookies (Fitnessista)
Cookies for breakfast… Genius idea! I’ve had these twice this week already and never get sick of them. I love how they keep my hunger at bay for hours.
Hemp (The Fitness Dish) /Coconut/Almond Milk (The New Healthy)
MOOOOOve over cow’s milk. Now that I have been drinking nut and hemp milks, I don’t think I will ever go back to cow’s milk. My stomach likes it much better, so I’m sticking to it.
Hummus
Pretty sure I professed my love for hummus here, last week
Crack Wraps (Kath Eats)
Let’s just say, now I know why they are called crack wraps. I’ve gotten so many of my friends addicted to crack………….wraps, that is. Never knew I could be such a bad influence.
Cheese and Jelly Combo (PBfingers)
Strange but good. It’s that sweet and salty combo that always gets me!
Banana Soft Serve (OhSheGlows)
Yet another reason why I love banana’s. It’s amazing how easy it is to make dairy-free ice cream with one ingredient!
Socca Pizza
I can’t remember where I discovered socca/socca pizza, but I love the fact that it’s full of veggies and protein. Who said pizza can’t be healthy?
Parsnip Fries (OhSheGlows)
These will change your life. Trust me.
Ezekiel Bread
My search for a healthy cinnamon raisin bread is over. I love how I can store several kinds of Ezekiel bread in the freezer and just pull out a slice or two when I need them.
Almond/Cashew Butter
I’ve been enjoying raw almond butter lately, I have to say it changed by life. Cashew butter is also amazing. I’m dreaming of the coconut flavored one Lisa and I made last winter. I need to make it ASAP!
PB2 (PBfinger)
I loved mixing PB2 into my smoothies, oats and cereal. You still get that lovely peanut butter flavor at a fraction on the calories. Score!
Chia Seeds (Thrive-Style)
I love, love, love discovering superfoods. Chia seeds are so good for you in so many ways. Lisa does a great job of explaining them here. I always add them to my overnight oats and breakfast cookies.
I tried to remember where I discovered these foods first, so I’m sorry if I forgot to give anyone credit.
I hope I continue to discover new foods. I love having a broad range of foods that I can eat. There are so many possibilities. It’s just about learning and discovering them.
Once again, Thank you blog friends for introducing these awesome foods into our lives!
What are some other foods you have discovered while reading blogs?
