Bears fans are waking up to a snowy and gloomy morning, the day after losing to the Green Bay Packers and not making it to the Superbowl. It was a sad night in Chicago, for the fans, and I am sure the players as well. We had our hopes up so high and we were left disappointed. Even though we wish the Bears would’ve won, I’m glad how far they came this year and the great job they did throughout the season.
Maria had a bunch of us over for the game and there was plenty of food.
We started off with a bunch of delicious appetizers.
There were plenty of chips with salsa and guacamole, fresh veggies with a Greek yogurt dip and a giant Italian sub that was delicious!
Great Job Maria!
During halftime we had some turkey burgers with white and sweet potato fries.
We’ve been making these burgers for quite some time and they’re our favorite.
Here is the recipe!
Yield 6 burgers
1 1/4 lb. of ground turkey
1 shallot, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup of parsley
1 packet of The Good Seasons Italian Dressing Mix (not the zesty one)
Lettuce & Tomatoes, for garnish
6 whole wheat buns, toasted
Combine all ingredients together. Be sure not to over mix. Divide meat into 6 equal parts and form patties. We like ours on the thin side so that there is a 50/50 ratio of burger and bun. We grilled ours inside on a grill pan, but they would be even better grilled on the BBQ. Cook patties for a few minutes on each side until cooked.
I definitely had a full belly when I left Maria’s house last night. I woke up not as hungry as usual and just had a piece of toast with strawberry cream cheese for breakfast. Back to getting on track this week and I’m looking forward to eating light next weekend!
Do you guys find yourselves getting off track on the weekends and having to make up for it on Monday?
